Courts should be a last resort. There are better ways to resolve business, financial, investment, and employment disputes.

Alternate Dispute Resolution offers the parties to civil disputes the means to evaluate the strength of their claims and defenses, resolve cases through mediation, or obtain a prompt, private, and less expensive decision through private arbitration.

Effective ADR requires two primary skills: the ability to listen, and the ability to quickly identify and assess the key legal and factual issues that decide cases.

During my 25-year litigation career, I handled well over a thousand cases, ranging from the defense of multi-million dollar securities cases to prosecution of claims on behalf of elderly retirees who had been swindled out of their savings. My clients ranged from executives of major corporations to minimum wage employees denied their last paycheck. Those experiences--and my clients from all walks of life--taught me how to listen, assess, and evaluate, the skills that I bring to every engagement as mediator, arbitrator, or neutral evaluator of your case.

As a lawyer, I was awarded Martindale Hubbell's highest "AV" rating for ability and ethics. I was named a Washington Law and Politics Superlawyer by my peers every year from 2003 through 2008. I trained as a Mediator at Harvard Law School's Program on Negotiation in 2005. I have been an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association, for FINRA Dispute Resolution Inc., for the New York Stock Exchange, and other arbitration forums.

As a neutral, I work with the kinds of cases I know best:

  • Banking Litigation

  • Partnership Disputes

  • Commercial Litigation

  • Professional Liability Claims

  • Contract Litigation

  • Real Estate Disputes

  • Economic Torts

  • Securities and Investment Claims

  • Employment and Discrimination
  • Trade Secrets/Non-competition

  • Fraud and Consumer Protection   Claims

  • Trust, ERISA and Fiduciary Duty Litigation
